About the Role:

The Forklift Operator drives powered industrial trucks to load and unload materials and deliveries and move them to and from storage areas, machines and loading docks, into railroad cars or trucks or storage facilities.

Responsibilities:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.

  • Follow daily production schedule or shipping order and transport material or equipment to and from designated areas in the facility
  • Load and unload goods from vehicles such as trucks
  • Move goods packed on pallets or in crates around the storage facility
  • Stack goods in the correct storage bays, follow inventory control instructions
  • Check to ensure loads are secure
  • Stack empty pallets
  • Perform daily equipment checks such as recharging the truck’s battery and lubricating equipment
  • Removing machine attachments and waste material from machines
  • Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards
  • Dump materials into machine hoppers

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Forklift certification per OSHA standards
  • Good math, language and reading skills; basic computer skills may be required
  • High degree of attention required to prevent injury to others; promote a safe work environment
  • May be required to use a radio frequency (RF) scanner gun
  • Clean driving record and a valid state motor vehicle operator’s license may be required

  • Able to follow instructions for operating equipment and keeping records
  • Able to execute assignments in an accurate, timely and safe manner
  • Able to maintain a clean & safe environment

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: 

  • Regularly use hands and fingers to handle or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms
  • Frequently required to sit, walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, speak and hear. Regular sitting on a powered industrial truck
  • Frequently lift up to 50 pounds and adjust body position to bend, stoop, stand, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for long periods of time
  • Vision abilities include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Having a good sense of balance
  • Having good eye-hand-foot coordination
  • Ability to assess weights and judge distances and heights
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures, depending upon season
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud
