Overview

Selective Insurance is looking for a summer law clerk for its busy civil litigation insurance defense firm.  The selected candidates will gain significant exposure to various aspects of Civil Procedure.  This is a summer full-time paid position, and are expected to last 8-12 weeks long depending on availability, with a minimum of two days per week in our local office.


Responsibilities

  • Assist in research and writing.
  • Draft pleadings, including motions and briefs.
  • Review and analyze files, organize case materials and assist in evaluating liability and exposure.
  • Assemble and arrange policies, documents, manuals, presentations, and/or printed materials. Ensure quality and accuracy of work.
  • Provide helpful, friendly, knowledgeable customer service on the phone or online.
  • Communicates effectively, completes transactions, and resolves problems.
  • Performs other legal clerical in support of department or function assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Requirements

  • Ability to work efficiently by staying focused on task at hand and completing work on schedule. Demonstrated commitment to producing quality work.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively with others.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office (Word, Outlook and Excel).

Education and Experience

  • Attending law school
  • 2-4 years of general office work including some experience in prioritizing work and meeting deadlines.

Pay Range

USD $27.00 - USD $27.00 /Hr.
