Job Description

Primary Accountability

The Radiology Technician is responsible for performing all scheduled or unscheduled x-ray studies, ordered by a licensed provider.

Description of Primary Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for performing x-ray studies, ordered by a licensed provider.
    1. Prepares room, equipment, and necessary paperwork.
    2. Prepares the patient for the examination and explains the procedure to the patient.
    3. Provides radiation protection for the patient according to prescribed safety standards.
    4. Transfers patient to and from x-ray room; positions patient correctly for x-ray being taken.
    5. Operates x-ray equipment, selecting proper technical factors on an individual patient basis, thus producing good quality radiographs.
    6. Follows protocols and guidelines to ensure accurate and high-quality images.
    7. Develops films using automatic processor.
    8. Places patient identification and markers on radiographs.
    9. Collaborates with Clinicians to provide necessary imaging support for patient care.
    10. Reports equipment failures and participates in quality assurance.
    11. Inventories and order supplies.
    12. Maintains Patient Daily Log.
    13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Professional & Technical Knowledge:

  1. Requires High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. Knowledge of radiation safety protocols and procedures.
  3. Knowledge of operating X-ray equipment and understanding imaging techniques.

Technical Skills:

  1. Ability to prepare basic correspondence and simple reports in Microsoft Word.
  2. Ability to use Microsoft Excel to create tables and simple displays of information. 

Licenses & Certifications: Graduation or completion of an approved program resulting in limited x-ray technician licensure by the state of California. 

Communications Skills:

  1. Job duties require the employee to effectively communicate complex and/or technical information to co-workers and others.
  2. Employees are expected to exercise tact and diplomacy in the resolution of mild conflicts or disagreements.
  3. Requires the effective communication of written information including electronic correspondence. 
  4. Bilingual skills preferred.

Physical Demands: Moderate risk even with controls in place (sharp objects, etc.).

Pay Scale:

Min Hourly Rate: $30.79

Max Hourly Rate: $42.49
