Job Title: Mortgage Secondary Market Associate I

Job Summary:

Assists Mortgage Division Manager in monitoring the 1-4 single-family mortgage loan pipeline. Executes best effort lock-in commitments with secondary market investors and in-house loans. Maintains investor approvals by completing required annual certification forms. Monitors various reports to help identify expiring locks, delays, timing issues, etc. Prepares and maintains management reports.

General Description/Duties:

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Monitors the rates throughout the day. Assists Loan Originators in special rate programs offered by investors (ie. HomePossible). Locks-in best effort commitments with secondary market investors.
  • Monitors expiring locks to ensure loans are closed/shipped prior to expiration date. Makes adjustments, as needed, to ensure locks remain active.
  • Responsible for completing annual certification forms required to retain the bank’s secondary market investor approval. These are: Freedom Mortgage, Citizen Bank, HUD, Freddie Mac and USDA.
  • Research and answers questions posed by customers, internal department employees, external department employees, and investors. 
  • Assists Mortgage Division Manager with annual budget process and with tracking loan production and performance based on annual projections.

  • Monitors online applications. Submits referrals and applications to an originator when the customer does not choose a specific lender. 
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Complies with all Federal and State banking laws and related regulations to include, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act.

Requirements: 

  • High school education or equivalent required. 
  • Previous mortgage experience helpful. 
  • Reasoning skills required.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Strong math skills
  • Knowledge of investor and secondary market guidelines preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
