Located on the west bank of the Mississippi River in Minneapolis, we deliver a broad range of pediatric programs from surgery, imaging and neonatal and pediatric intensive care to cardiac. The Pediatric Med/Surg IMC unit (Unit 6) provides care to pediatric cardiac, solid organ (heart) transplant, infectious disease, CF, pulmonary, general medical/surgical, ENT, trauma, and orthopedic patients and their families. We have 24 beds on the unit and patients range from infants to young adults. The challenge of critical care nursing is best experienced in this intermediate care unit (IMC) where nurses care for patients with complex, multi-system health issues.

Schedule: This position will be working 60 hours every two weeks on the Night shift, 12-hour shifts, every third weekend.

Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.

  • Provides complex care to pediatric patient/families 
  • Performs advanced monitoring using current technology.
  • Manages sophisticated medication and infusion therapies
  • Cares for patient undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures/interventions on the unit.
  • Demonstrates ability to safely and accurately operate unit equipment.
  • Bed capacity: 24
  • Nurse to patient ratio: 1:2 to 1:4

Required Qualifications

  • MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
  • 1+ years of RN Experience
  • Will Consider New Grad with Internship/Capstone in Pediatrics

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing or BAN
  • Cardiac Pediatric Experience Preferred 
  • 1-3 years of experience
