Job Description

Summary of Position:

The Forklift Operator will support the operations teams by moving supplies and product where needed to maximize efficiency in the Greenhouse or Packhouse. 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

• Transport product and supplies from one location to another using area’s assigned forklift 
• Follow all safety protocols while operating forklift 
• Support the greenhouse or packhouse operations as needed
• Communicate and cooperate with supervisors and coworkers
• Follow quality, food safety and service standards and comply with procedures, rules and regulations
• Participate in any required company trainings, including safety, forklift, and food safety
• Notify maintenance team if any repairs or forklift maintenance is needed

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Able to stand, squat, or kneel for extended periods of time
• Ability to always pay attention and be aware of one’s surroundings while operating a vehicle 
• Knowledge of forklift safety rules

Education and Experience:

• Current forklift certification or current forklift certification from recent Fortune 500 employer; must complete internal forklift safety training upon being hired
• High School Diploma/GED 
• 1 year of experience working in a manufacturing or warehouse environment

Supervisory:

• This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities. 

Work Environment:

Greenhouse, 50%

• The temperatures in the greenhouse vary depending on the weather outside
• Climate can range from hot and humid to cold depending on the location and time of year
• PPE must be worn at all times

Packhouse, 50%

• The temperatures in the packhouse are between 34-38° F to preserve product quality
• PPE must be worn at all times

Physical Requirements:

• Occasionally ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like.
• Occasionally moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
• Occasionally remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
• Constantly moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
• Occasionally adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.
• Constantly repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. 
• Occasionally operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
