Job Description

PDS Optical is seeking a Finish Tint Lab Technician for our Optical Lab on Bishop Lane! 

The Finish Tint Lab Technician cleans, dyes, or tints and coats the edged and uncut lenses as specified on the order. 

This is a full-time position that runs Monday-Friday 4:30pm-1:00am, the starting pay is $17/hr. however applicable experience may be considered.

Essential Functions include but are not limited to:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

• Understand the order of the lab production, the Julian Day Number (JDN) system and which jobs are considered “HOT” or “PRIORITY JOBS” that should be completed first.
• Know the proper tray scan in and out of your area into the inserting area.
• Clean and examine all lenses before tinting. Look for obvious defects.
• Check the material type on the work ticket and tint as ordered.
• Must learn and retain all tinting requirements that pertain to solids, gradients, colors, density, and Scratch Coating.
• Must be knowledgeable of lens materials and be familiar with which lens types can and cannot be tinted.
• Check the lenses after tinting to ensure proper and consistent color.
• Daily cleaning of work area and crocks including filling up and emptying out water crock. Be aware of any problems with the crocks and communicate them immediately to your supervisor.
• Clean all compartments and change out tints weekly.
•Other duties, tasks and activities that may be associated with this position or assigned.

Work Environment

This position is located in the Finish Department of our optical laboratory and operates in a production/manufacturing type setting. The temperature can sometimes be warm, and the noise level can be somewhat loud. This position also requires working in close proximity to a diverse group of other co-workers.
