Job Description

Overview

The Decedent Care Chaplain assesses and responds to the spiritual and emotional needs of patients, their families and team members related to decedent care. Acts as a liaison with clinicians, hospital services, Medical examiners, deceased patient's family, autopsy services, donor services and funeral homes to facilitate transition of the decedent from the hospital in a patient-centric compassionate way and in accordance with legal, state, federal and regulatory guidelines related to decedent care. Documents in EPIC and decedent care related programs / databases in accordance with organization policies and regulatory and licensure requirements. Demonstrates teamwork and flexibility with schedule to ensure effective departmental operations.
