Job Description

Building / Maintenance Assistant Status: Full-Time Schedule:  Tuesday - Saturday; 9am - 5pm Wage: $18-$23/hour Location: Ovation Heartwood; 470 Maxwell Plaza; Omaha, NE 68154 Apply at:  www.teamavamere.com  

We are seeking a Building / Maintenance Assistant to help ensure a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment for our residents and staff. Responsibilities include performing routine maintenance, repairs, and assisting with facility upkeep. Ideal candidates have basic maintenance skills, the ability to troubleshoot issues, and a commitment to safety and compliance.

This position will support building upkeep projects with a strong focus on painting, touch-ups, and cosmetic repairs throughout the community.

 Responsibilities:

  • Perform interior and exterior painting projects including surface prep, patching, sanding, priming, and finishing.

  • Prepare walls, ceilings, trim, and other surfaces for painting by cleaning, scraping, filling holes, and repairing minor drywall damage.

  • Perform routine maintenance on grounds, parking areas, driveways, etc. such as cutting, trimming, sweeping and cleaning.
  • Work will also include: plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry and mechanical.
  • Replace bulbs, clean windows and assist others in lifting heavy equipment and supplies.
  • Service heating and cooling units/systems.
  • Coordinate daily maintenance services with your Maintenance Director when performing routine assignments in resident living areas.
  • Ensure that the facility and its equipment are properly maintained for resident comfort and convenience.
  • Create and uphold an atmosphere of warmth, patience, enthusiasm, and a calm and cheerful environment.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 1 year of maintenance supervisory experience.
  • At least 1 year of hands-on painting experience, including prep work (patching, sanding, priming, and finishing)?
  • Knowledgeable of maintenance practices, procedures, building codes and safety regulations.
  • Knowledgeable of boilers, compressors, generators and various mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
  • Familiar with maintenance of a building such as a nursing home, apartment complex or business facility.
  • Able to minimize waste of supplies and misuse of equipment.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Must speak, read, and write English fluently
  • Must have an active CPR/BLS certification
