POSITION

PRODUCTION ASSISTANT

JOB SUMMARY

The Production Assistant is an integral part of the manufacturing production line. The production assistant will assist and maintain daily sewing workstations and processes. They will be trained with the technical knowledge and have the ability to communicate the technical information required to perform as an assistant in the production department.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support, report to, and be directed by the Production Manager in his/her duties.
  • Maintains in-process inventory at workstations by delivering work-in-progress (WIP) totes and staging daily materials and supplies.
  • Performs basic in-line quality control processes and assembly functions throughout the production line (e.g., thread trimming, turning out product, add hardware, etc.).
  • Stages finished subassemblies and/or product for their next process.
  • Distributing materials, supplies, and products throughout production floor.
  • Documents recut list materials and procures needed supplies to complete a WIP by communicating with the appropriate production manager throughout the production floor.
  • Mark cut components to prepare products for sewing.
  • Operate production machines and equipment within efficiency standards.
  • Handle and organize raw materials according to department systems.
  • Perform basic assembly tasks.
  • Maintain in-line quality control of raw materials and takes appropriate action to maintain accuracy and precision with the highest degree of proficiency.
  • Able to identify components and workings of production machines.
  • Able to read and interpret technical packets, written processes, standard operating procedures, and follow instructions.
  • Able to perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance on machines and identify the need for external services when needed.
  • Utilize various production machines, fixtures, and tooling to perform production functions to a high degree of proficiency.
  • Maintain clean and organized workspace according to company standards.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with personnel from other departments to support production floor objectives and ensure quality standards are met.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Full-time, on-site position.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and instructions.
  • Excellent organizational skills to maintain a clean workspace.
  • Effective communication skills to report findings and follow directions.
  • May be required to work overtime and/or extended hours depending on business needs.
  • Physical requirements may include sitting, standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, and kneeling for up to and including 8 hours.
  • Vision to view printed and electronic text and graphics.
  • Ability to access information on computers, tablets, and electronics.
  • Ability to handle and manipulate items and hardware with hands and/or fingers up to and including 8 hours.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior production or manufacturing experience.
  • Prior experience utilizing ERP or MRP software, such as Microsoft Dynamics.
