Job Description

Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries, founded in 1916, is one of the largest providers of rehabilitation services in the State of Ohio.

The Material Handler is responsible for the movement, storage, and management of materials and products in our Retail division in Closeout Goods. This role involves loading and unloading goods from trucks, tracking inventory, operating pallet jacks, and ensuring quality standards are met efficiently. If needed, this position will also process goods for sale in the stores.

Working conditions: Prolong Standing, Sitting, Walking, Pulling, Bending, Lifting up to 50 lbs.
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Load, unload, move, and stack materials using manual methods or powered equipment (e.g. pallet jacks).
  • Receive incoming materials and verify accuracy.
  • Ensure materials are stored properly to prevent damage or loss.
  • Package materials for shipping when needed.
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Follow all safety protocols and company procedures for material handling and storage.
  • Communicate with supervisors, warehouse staff, to ensure smooth operations.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized.
  • Sort and process materials for sale in store as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in a warehouse, industrial work, or material handling role (preferred). 
  • Ability to operate pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment 
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy materials (up to 50 lbs.) frequently.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work in a physically demanding and fast-paced environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Warehouse setting.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and heavy equipment.
  • Requires prolonged standing, and walking, repetitive lifting, and carrying materials for extended periods
