Description

Job Title: Collision Ride Operator  

Business Unit: Meteor Crater Enterprises 

Location: Crater

Department: Museum Collision 

Function: Operate and maintain equipment 

Reports to: Supervisor, Assistant Operations Manager, Operations Manager, & VP of Business Development  

Direct Reports: None  

Financial Accountability: Safety compliance to prevent costs related to visitor and employee accidents.  

Purpose: Under supervision of the Supervisor, Assistant Operations Manager, Director of Operations you will entertain guests while providing them a safe experience. Will organize groups for viewing that satisfy both the customer and time restraints. Be responsible for light maintenance with opening and closing procedures of all facilities. Ensures that guest receive a professional, positive and memorable experience while visiting Meteor Crater Visitor Center Attractions.       

Tasks and Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for assisting customers in the Collision area by organizing and directing groups.  
  2. Responsible for maintaining a clean, organized appearance of collision area, restrooms and back areas.  
  3. Responsible for the safety of all riding guests.    
  4. Responsible for helping maintain and clean the equipment in the back service room and trouble shoot when necessary. This includes: Calibrating equipment regularly to ensure proper functionality of the seating, communicates equipment needs to management, and understands the operation of the equipment for proper start up and shut down.   
  5. Follows introduction script consistently along with other formalities set in place by management.  
  6. Responsible for being proficient with opening and closing procedures and provide support as required or when scheduled.  
  7. Provide coverage for colleagues during lunches and breaks as needed to ensure smooth operations.  
  8. Responsible for helping train and coach Collision personnel and develop team work when instructed to.   
  9. Support co-workers in accordance with policy and procedures related to the operations of stations.  
  10. Interacts directly with guests, including promptly and appropriately handling guest inquiries and concerns.  
  11. Required to be flexible with daily schedule and duties in order to back fill other positions.   
  12. Attends staff meetings to ensure communication among Managers and co-workers regarding operations and activities.  
  13. Performs other duties as required.  
  14. Must wear complete uniforms including (name tag, earpiece).  
  15. Must follow all policies and procedures in accordance with the Employee Handbook.  

Work Environment: Work is generally performed in a public setting with a moderate to high noise levels. Prolonged standing and walking may be required. Tight time constraints and multiple demands are common.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:  

  • Essential  
  •  High School Diploma or GED required.   
  •  Must be 18 years of age or older.  
  •  Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening, as well as a background check.  
  •  Possess a current, valid Arizona Driver’s License.  
  •  Reliable transportation is required.  

Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, Certifications:  

  • Essential  
  • Basic knowledge of the Visitor Center and Discovery Center.   
  • Understands and practices all Policies and Procedures.   
  • Ability to participate in programs and follow policies and procedures that ensure goals are achieved.

  • Ability to operate cash register-based Point of Sale Systems, as well as computers using MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

  • Ability to perform accurate cash handling and settlements.  
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, both verbally and in writing.  
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships and communication with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels.

  • Ability to analyze situations and adopt appropriate courses of action.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee occasionally is required to sit; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
