Education: 

High School Diploma or GED required

Medical Transcription required

Medical Terminology Knowledge required

Medical Experience preferred

Responsibilities:

• Listening to audio recordings from medical professionals

• Typing and organizing medical documents from audio files for patient files

• Transcription of patient histories, physical examination, chart reviews, consultation and discharge summaries

• Ability to distinguish between homonyms and recognize inconsistencies/mistakes in medical terms

• May need to refer to dictionaries, drug references, and other sources of anatomy, physiology, or medicine

• Translation of medical jargon and abbreviations into their expanded forms to ensure accuracy of information placed into records. 

Abilities:

• High-level of multi-tasking

• Time management skills

• Team player

• Must be able to type 60+ words per minute 

Physical Requirements:

• Requires manual and finger dexterity, and hand-eye coordination

• Requires sitting for extensive periods of time

• Requires corrected vision and hearing within normal ranges
