Internship Description/Learning Objectives:

-Support community outreach and sexual education

-Help support the fundraising efforts of a private, non-profit healthcare agency

-Support advocacy and civic engagement initiatives

-Event logistics like planning and preparation

Job Duties:

-Condom-packing and distribution to community partners, tabling and community outreach -Help with special fundraising events; basic data entry and organization, take inventory of merch and swag, etc.

-update social media pages weekly, attend events to create content, engage with social media followers

-attend meetings/events, assist with scheduling, maintain records, data management

Preferred Competencies:

-Passionate about sexual education, especially for marginalized communities.

-Comfortable, professional and discreet while communicating via phone and email with vendors and supporters.

-Passionate about advocacy around reproductive healthcare.

-Basic competency in Google Docs and Sheets. -Detail-oriented.

General Information:

Work Schedule Days and Hours:

M-THR 10AM-4:30PM, in-office or community outreach

Dress Code:

Business casual to casual attire

Travel Required:

Travel to and from office or to outreach events around Davidson County (transportation support offered by our staff)

Physical Requirements:

All positions will involve some standing, sitting, lifting up to 25 lbs, walking, and squatting. ADA accommodations and Spanish interpretation available on request.

Working Conditions: (example: Office Warehouse, Outdoors, with Children or Animals, etc.)

Mostly indoors in office, but some outdoors for events.

The full program is June 1st – July 17th   

June 1st – June 3rd:   Interns attend work readiness skills training from 8am – 12pm.

June 4th:                      Attend employer orientation meeting.

June 5th:                      POWER Youth Summit at Sheraton Music City Nashville Airport

June 8th – July 17th:   Youth will report to their employer worksite location on Monday – 

                                       Thursday or special schedule workday at the time 

                                        scheduled by employer.  You will be scheduled to work 6.5 hours daily

                                      which equals 24 hours per week.

Friday Cohorts:              Youth report to cohort sessions at assigned locations at 8:00am to 

                                       12:00noon on Fridays.

July 17th:                     POWER Youth Summer Employment Program.             

If you are selected as a High School Intern, you will make $15.00 an hour and receive pre-program training and coaching to ensure you have the skills you need on the job. Interns are responsible for providing their own transportation to all orientation, training, worksite, and cohort times. Please consider your transportation needs prior to applying for the High School Internship program. There are opportunities to intern in many areas of Nashville, so please select the opportunity based on your access to transportation.


The POWER Youth program, previously known as Opportunity NOW, provides career exploration and work experience activities for youth 14 to 24 years old. The name POWER Youth was selected by the peer youth leadership team based on how they view themselves and their future.
