Job Description

Job Summary: ENT Specialists of North Florida are looking for an experienced Surgery Coordinator. This position requires the utilization of clinical knowledge to schedule appropriate procedures per the provider's orders. The Surgery Coordinator position schedules office-based and hospital procedures consistent with the patient's diagnosis and procedure request. Also requires excellent customer service skills with patients, employees, and the public. The Surgery Coordinator must be able to respond to both written and oral correspondence regarding schedule changes/cancellations in a timely, accurate manner. Individuals must be organized, and able to manage demanding workloads with accuracy.   Tasks for Surgery Coordinator will include, but are not limited to.   Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the surgical scheduling system
  • Schedule patients for surgical procedures
  • Complete all necessary surgical scheduling forms
  • Schedule diagnostic exams pre and/or post-operation
  • Verify physician orders for appointments
  • Verifying insurance and benefits as well as obtaining authorizations
  • Collecting payment from patients before procedures
  • Retrieving medical records
  • Interact with all patients using the level of respect and professionalism required by this practice
  • Comply with HIPAA confidentiality standards when accessing or communicating patient information
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor, manager, or physician
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Understanding of Medical Terminology
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
  • Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation to type simple correspondence and communications
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to be an enthusiastic team player
Education and Experience:
  • Minimum High School Diploma
  • Minimum one year of experience as a Surgical Coordinator in a medical practice setting preferred
  • Familiarity with EMR systems.
  • Must demonstrate consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals
  • Critical thinking skills and a positive attitude essential
Physical Requirements:
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements (specifically keyboarding and writing), standing, walking, squatting, and sitting, with some lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 10 pounds.
  • Travel to other offices as needed
Environmental/Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed in an office environment. Involves contact with other staff members
