Starting Pay Rate: $20/hr


Position Summary:

Operate forklift to assist in the processing of fruit.

Responsibilities:

  • Load & offload trucks sorting bins and staging for production.
  • Inspect fruit quality and fill out CCP # 1 paperwork.
  • Fruit rotation 1st in 1st out. 
  • Document arriving & departing trucks or loads.
  • Move incoming materials to proper location or storage area.
  • Label bins & rows -date received & verity.
  • Conduct inventory on fruit products and plant supplies.
  • Introduce the raw material into the process and orderly disposition of empty fruit bins.
  • Maintain a safe and courteous driving attitude.
  • Others duties as assigned. 

Position that backs up this role during absence: Any other trained employee in Processing.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

The following requirements are those that are normally required for performance of the Processing Forklift position. Role in Food Safety: Follow plant GMP’s at all times, ensure work area is secure and monitor and document fruit receiving CCP.

A. Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to turn head to look right/left as well as up and down.
  • Ability to steer using steering wheel.
  • Ability to move right arm/hand forward and backwards to move the gear that moves forks up and down.
  • Ability to apply pressure on gas and brake pedals using right and left legs/feet.
  • Ability to get on and off the forklift several times per day (fueling, do paperwork).
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.

B. Non-Physical Requirements:

  1. Education:
  • High school diploma or GED
  1. Experience: 
  • Minimum one year experience in the fruit industry preferred.
  • Experience with forklifts and bin dumpers preferred.
  1. Special Skills:
  • Ability to high stack bins.
  • Must have good communication skills.
  • Ability to work any shift.
  • A demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Personally invested in the success of the business.
  • Motivated, focused and accountable for results

  • Forklift Driver Training
  • Forklift Driver certification
  1. External Relationships:
  • None
  1. Internal Relationships:
  • The forklift driver will interact and communicate effectively with all employees in the plant. 
  1. Direct & Indirect Reports:
  • There are no direct or indirect reports.
  1. Back-Up
  • Forklift drivers will back-up other certified forklift drivers when necessary.
