Job Description

The Clerk supports the Civil Division of the Department of Justice and reports to the Program Manager.  This position is 100% on site.   This position ensures the accurate identification, routing, and processing of important documents using advanced database systems and strict compliance protocols. The role requires professional experience in an office environment demonstrating strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.   Responsibilities:
  • Review legal documents and extract relevant case information
  • Develop search criteria and perform database queries to conduct searches on complex database and identify relevant case records
  • Adhere to prescribed deadlines for processing documents and completing work
  • Apply detailed rules and procedures consistently and accurately in a deadline driven environment
  • Perform self and peer quality control reviews
  • Perform clerical duties such as assembling documents, photocopying, filing, generating labels and other duties as assigned
  • Maintain a 98% accuracy and required production levels/volume of work
  • Share late shift duties (9:30 am to 6:00 pm) with colleagues
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma required, college degree desired
  • One year of experience in a professional office environment
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Experience demonstrating the ability to read large, complex documents and extract relevant information
  • Experience demonstrating the ability to develop search criteria and conducting database queries in a relational database
  • Experience applying detailed rules and procedures
  • Experience meeting deadlines
  • Experience demonstrating teamwork
  • Good organizational skills with attention to details and follow-up actions
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Good working knowledge of MS Word
  • Strong interpersonal skills demonstrating friendliness, approachability, and the ability to work and interact professionally with colleagues, government staff and other contractor personnel
