The Opportunity!
At Goodwill Industries of Central Florida, as a Maintenance Technician II, you are expected to
perform maintenance repairs in all GICF facilities. Major duties include repairing lighting and other electrical issues, plumbing repairs, painting, carpentry, and replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, and HVAC filters.
A Day in the Life of a Maintenance Technician II!
You will find yourself:
Performing maintenance repairs such as replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, and HVAC filters.
Inspecting and repairing emergency exit and other lighting as required.
Performing general carpentry projects at facilities.
Conducting basic electrical repairs including ballast/driver replacement, fixture replacement, fans, etc.
Performing plumbing repairs as assigned. Fixture replacement, flushometers, etc.
Painting and touching up stores and the main facility.
Completing/updating computer-based work orders promptly via tablet.
Working in a public, customer-facing environment safely and responsibly.
Following all safety procedures when repairing or replacing items as assigned; adhering to and supporting the Organization’s safety and security program. Following lock out, tag out procedures, and utilizing the correct PPE per OSHA requirements.
QualificationsPhysical and Environmental Work Conditions:
Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds independently and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.
Vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Stooping, bending, kneeling, balancing, crawling, pushing and pulling, and climbing ladders.
Standing and walking for long periods of time.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic).
Education and/or Experience:
High School education or equivalent is preferred.
Entry level to 1 years’ experience.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Daily use of tablet required for this position.
Basic Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, woodworking, and cement work.
Must be able to pass a level 1 background check.
Valid Florida Driver’s License with a clean driving record and current private auto insurance policy.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
