Job Description

JOB TITLE: Orderly, Environmental Services

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES

This role supports our surgical team by ensuring cleanliness and organization of the operating room before and after surgical procedures. Work closely with Surgical staff to clean and set up the operating room with necessary equipment, and supplies. Assist surgical staff with position and transferring patients onto and off the operating table. Monitor and maintain inventory levels of surgical supplies and equipment and restock as needed. Follow established infection control protocols to maintain a safe and sterile environment. Handle and dispose of trash, biohazardous waste and linens according to facility policy. Provide outstanding customer service to patients, staff, and visitors. Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to appropriate personnel. Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPPA guideline. Adhere to all policies and procedures.  

REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

  • Basic understanding of infection control principles
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced surgical environment
  • Effective teamwork and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism

Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to frequently lift, push, and pull patients and equipment (with assistance and/or mechanical devices).
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and move quickly between locations.
  • Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for safe patient transport and environmental awareness.

Work Environment 

  • Exposure to blood, body fluids, and regulated medical waste.
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals and disinfectants.
  • Exposure to surgical and anesthesia environments.
  • Requires use of required PPE.
