Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Dental Laboratory Technician to join our Dental, Oral Oncology and Maxillofacial Prosthetics team. This role is responsible for fabricating, repairing, and customizing intra-oral prosthetics while supporting advanced digital dentistry workflows, patient care, and resident education. The ideal candidate is technically proficient, organized, collaborative, and committed to delivering high-quality prosthetic solutions that improve patient outcomes.

Pay Range: $26.00 to $29.00 hourly* ($53,000 to $62,000 per year) 

Location: 462 Grider Street Buffalo, NY Department: Dentistry – Oral Oncology / Maxillofacial Prosthetics Laboratory 

Shift: Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Job Duties

  • Fabricate and repair intra-oral prosthetics including dentures, occlusal guards, fluoride trays, custom trays, and a variety of other intraoral prosthetics
  • Perform laboratory procedures including pouring impressions, wax contouring, investing, processing, finishing, polishing, wire bending, laser welding, CAD/CAM design, milling, and 3D printing
  • Customize prostheses to meet functional and cosmetic patient needs
  • Investigate and implement new materials, techniques, and laboratory processes
  • Coordinate laboratory workflow, scheduling, and production activities
  • Educate dental residents, students, and external trainees on prosthetic fabrication techniques and equipment
  • Maintain laboratory safety standards, sterilization procedures, ventilation protocols, and hazardous material storage compliance
  • Monitor laboratory equipment functionality and coordinate repairs or replacements as needed
  • Maintain inventory levels and order laboratory supplies
  • Clean and Maintain lab equipment directed by MSDS guidelines
  • Communicate with external laboratories and vendors
  • Prepare daily work logs and reports
  • Stay current with advancements in dental laboratory technology and digital dentistry practices
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and hospital regulations and safety standards
  • Deliver excellent customer service and collaborate effectively across department

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Dental Technology or related field, required. Bachelor’s degree, preferred
  • 1–2 years of experience in a dental laboratory or dental office, preferred
  • Certified Dental Technician (CDT) certification, preferred
  • Proficiency with dental laboratory software, CAD/CAM systems, and laboratory equipment
  • Knowledge of digital dentistry workflows including 3D printing and milling
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
