Job Description

SUMMARY:

Responsible for setting up and serving luncheons, parties and other special functions. Assist the Cafeteria Assistants in the cafeteria to serve customers. Keeps the cafeteria and salad bar re-stocked.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Responsible for setting up and serving luncheons, parties & other special functions.
  1. Delivers and serves luncheons in a timely manner. Maintains catering book. 
  1.  Responsible for breaking down luncheons and special functions. Leaves meeting rooms generally clean and returns all equipment back to the department.
  1. Re-stocks salad bar in cafeteria and keeps cafeteria supplied with adequate desserts during meal service.
  1. Assists Cafeteria Assistant in setting up salad bar and condiments. 
  1. Except while serving a luncheon or party, assists cafeteria assistant in cafeteria by serving customers at the grill or with cleaning, restocking and busing tables. 
  1. Keeps an ample supply of freshly sliced meats and freshly prepared lunch salads for the deli. Seldom does the supply run short.
  1. Assists Cafeteria Assistant in prep for lunch specials and Diet Assistants on tray line for breakfast.
  1. Responsible for counting, collecting and distributing cash register money when food service supervisor is out of office.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. In the case of illness of another employee and during vacation time, may relieve in another position.

2. Reports to work on time.

3. Adheres to hospital code pertaining to dress, personal appearance and conduct.

4. Promotes positive patient/intra-facility relations and a caring environment.

5. Attends department/staff meetings as required.

6. Follows hospital policies and procedures.

7. Maintains confidentiality of patient and employee information.

8. Performs other related duties as needed to facilitate workflow and to promote health care.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Must be able to count and follow instructions.
  2. Experience in food handling.
  3. Cash register and money handling experience.
  4. Good customer relations skills.
