Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:

The Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient movement of raw materials, finished goods, and packaging within the facility. This position supports manufacturing and warehouse operations by maintaining accurate inventory, staging materials for production, and ensuring timely movement of goods throughout the plant. The Forklift Operator plays an essential role in maintaining product flow, supporting production schedules, and upholding company safety and quality standards.

ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receives, stores, and distributes materials, tools, equipment, and products within the warehouse and production areas.
  • Prepares and stages materials for production orders to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
  • Loads and unloads materials from trucks using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment.
  • Verifies accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring correct labeling and documentation.
  • Maintains inventory control by scanning, counting, and entering materials into the ERP system.
  • Transfers finished products to designated storage locations and prepares them for shipment.
  • Follows all safety procedures and participates in housekeeping activities to maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Reports damaged or defective materials, unsafe conditions, or equipment malfunctions immediately.
  • Assists with cycle counts and physical inventory as directed.
  • Supports SQF and ISO compliance by maintaining accurate documentation and adhering to quality standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support production and warehouse operations.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment preferred.
  • Experience operating forklifts or other powered industrial trucks preferred.
  • Basic computer and data entry skills required; experience with ERP systems is a plus.
  • Knowledge of safe material handling procedures and warehouse best practices.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Dependable and punctual with a strong sense of responsibility and work ethic.
  • Basic math skills and ability to complete required documentation accurately.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to safely operate forklifts and related equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing and warehouse environment. 
  • Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods throughout the shift. 
  • Regularly required to lift, move, push, or pull up to 50 pounds. 
  • Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, twist, and perform repetitive motions as part of daily duties. 
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and industrial equipment is common. 
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed shoes.
