Job Summary

The Barista / Cashier is responsible for creating a personable and memorable experience for all guests by providing them with top-notch service, quality beverages and food, as well as ensuring the café is a comfortable environment for all customers. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Consistently provide quality beverages and food by following FIFO (first in, first out) procedures, reviewing expiration dates and inspecting for freshness.
  • Operate cash register to handle food and beverage transactions.
  • Ensure transactions are processed in a timely manner
  • Ensure products are labeled, stocked and organized in the café. 
  • In-depth knowledge of all food and beverage products sold and their ingredients. 
  • Highlight café items and recommend pairings to customers based on purchases. 
  • Act with integrity, honesty and knowledge always. 
  • Maintain a calm demeanor during high volume periods or atypical events. 
  • Communicate with guests using clear and enthusiastic words, tone and body language. Make guests feel welcome and appreciated.
  • Anticipate and respond to guest’s questions and needs.
  • Assist training new team members by positively reinforcing standards and performance; give respectful and encouraging coaching as needed.
  • Follow all policies and procedures to ensure the safety and security of all.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workplace at all times.
  • Follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines for all products. 
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Hours: 6:30AM-3:30PM

Compensation

The anticipated Hourly Rate range for this position is $18-$20 Per Hour plus benefits.  Actual placement within the range is dependent on multiple factors, including but not limited to skills, education, and experience. 

Physical requirements/Work Environment

This position primarily operates behind the café counter in close proximity to co-workers. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Hazards may include, but are not limited to, cuts, slipping and tripping. It requires constant standing and walking; continuous reaching, bending, lifting, carrying, stooping, and wiping; ability to remain stationary for long periods of time; frequent hand-washing;.; ability to manipulate fingers, hands, and arms to cut, measure, pour, serve, carry, and wipe; ability to hear and talk; have good close and distance vision and ability to focus between the two. Should be able to stand long hours. Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop or kneel. Must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 30 pounds.
