Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Distribution Courier operates delivery vehicles according to all established laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. This position performs routine inspections and upkeeps on delivery vehicles and communications equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. The Courier follows a predetermined route, along which items and materials are picked up and delivered. Maybe required to perform STAT deliveries. This position maintains continuous communications with the department, and maintains appropriate documentation of activities as required.



This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to team work and cooperation.



QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required.



LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Valid New Jersey driver’s license



EXPERIENCE: Must have the ability to drive and operate non-articulated vehicles up to 21’, delivery van with automatic or manual transmission and motorized as well as hand operated equipment.



PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:

Demonstrates the technical competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.



WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury.



Requires the ability to load and unload delivery vehicles, and requires frequent bending, lifting, and stooping.
