Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

In this role you will:

  • Assist in researching, drafting, editing, and distributing public information materials across television, radio, print, and digital platforms.
  • Provide on-site media support at City events for social media purposes.
  • Develop communications content including press releases, newsletters, brochures, and social media posts.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure messaging is accurate, consistent, and aligned with the Mayor’s priorities.
  • Capture and edit photo and video content to support City communications and promotional efforts
  • Contribute creative ideas to enhance public engagement.


Required Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to create and adapt content across print, digital, and broadcast platforms. They will be comfortable supporting events and capturing real-time social media content, while developing engaging materials such as press releases, newsletters, and posts. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, collaborative, and able to ensure consistent, accurate messaging. They will have experience or familiarity with photo and video content creation, bring a creative approach to public engagement, and be organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with the completion of at least six (6) college credit hours in related coursework.

Candidates must also be actively enrolled in an accredited college for Fall 2026.

Preference for employment in all positions with the city shall be given to applicants who are full-time city residents.

To be eligible to apply, current City employees must have completed their probationary period and attained certified status in their current position.
