Job Description

Description

If you can tear it down, fix it, and make it run better than before — we want you.

Qnergy builds reliable remote power and methane abatement systems used in energy and industrial environments across the country. We’re expanding in South Texas and looking for a mechanically strong Field Service Tech who’s comfortable in the field, on customer sites, and solving problems without waiting to be told what to do.

This is hands-on, real-world mechanical work.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Install, commission, and maintain remote power generation and instrument air systems.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on rotating equipment and supporting systems.
  • Perform preventative and annual maintenance at customer sites throughout South Texas.
  • Troubleshoot compressors, cooling systems, pumps, ignition components, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Provide professional on-site customer support and basic operator training.
  • Document service activity clearly and communicate field findings back to engineering.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to support customer uptime.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • 1+ year of hands-on mechanical field experience (compressors, HVAC, engines, rotating equipment, oil & gas equipment preferred).
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting instincts — you don’t just swap parts, you find root cause.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and service manuals.
  • Comfort working outdoors in Texas heat and varying site conditions.
  • Self-directed, organized, and capable of working independently.
  • Clear communication skills — customers need confidence when you show up.
  • Helpful but not required:
  • Technical diploma or trade certification.
  • First Aid/CPR, H2S, or other oil & gas safety certifications.

Work Environment

  • Regular travel throughout the San Antonio region and surrounding South Texas areas.
  • On-call rotation required.
  • Outdoor industrial sites — heat, noise, dust, and real-world conditions.
  • Physical work including lifting up to 80 lbs.
  • Combination of field service and documentation/reporting responsibilities.
