Job Highlights:

This is a full time Phlebotomist position for SSM Health Verona Clinic working variable 8 hour day shifts during clinic hours (8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.) for a total of 40 hours per week. The schedule includes two weekend shifts per month and a holiday obligation.

A one-time sign on bonus (less taxes) may be available to qualified individuals with a two year service commitment.

Job Summary:

Under specific direction, collects and prepares blood specimens and other samples for laboratory testing. Maintains collection areas and equipment and performs record keeping duties.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collects blood specimens by venipuncture and capillary technique and processes the samples according to laboratory guidelines.
  • Delivers samples to the laboratory in established time frames.
  • May perform waived testing.
  • May perform a variety of administrative duties to support the department.
  • Identifies patients using two identifiers.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Rare climbing.
