Prepares expectant mothers and support person for childbirth. Uses appropriate teaching principles and adult learning methods to deliver information on a variety of perinatal topics, including pregnancy, labor, comfort measures and pain management, delivery, cesarean birth (C-section), birthing alternatives, postpartum, baby care, and tools to use during childbirth. Increases consumers'/patients' awareness of the support services, learning opportunities, and resources that Sutter Health offers. Collaborates with peers and other healthcare providers to ensure classes are relevant and responsive to a diverse customer population, as well as meets department needs. Fosters a professional and collaborative relationship between women, their support groups, and health care professionals.Job Description:

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
CHILDBIRTH EDUCATION.
• Teaches classes for expectant mothers, siblings, patient support group, and new parents on a variety of topics including labor, birth, postpartum, newborn care and breastfeeding.
• Routinely reviews and updates teaching materials and presentation(s) to reflect new information, integrate comments from class evaluation forms, incorporate physician feedback, address student’s needs, achieve cultural diversity while realizing department goals and objectives.
• Fosters a positive relationship between women and Sutter Health, physicians, other healthcare providers, and the community.

Pay Range is $29.60 to $37.00 / hourThe compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled.
