Job Description

Reports to: Prevention Services Manager

Position Overview:
The PrEP Navigator & Testing Coordinator will provide HIV & STD prevention services & education, including HIV Testing, PrEP, & linkage to treatment, among LGBTQ+ individuals at various locations throughout Dallas County & surrounding.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
 
  • ​​​​Conduct HIV, syphilis & STI testing & prevention activities focused on gay, bisexual, transgender, gender-non confirming & men who have sex with men (MSM)
  • Educate MSM & other community members about HIV/STI prevention
  • Recruit at-risk, young adult MSM for FTN/FCT & screen testing
  • Perform initial & follow-up sessions per FTN/FCT guidelines for persons testing for HIV
  • Maintain a positive rapport with community businesses, organizations & agencies
  • Assist in implementing community assessment for FTN/FCT
  • Follow agency & program procedures/policies, including safety regulations & guidelines
  • Work with Dallas County Health & Human Services on information regarding partner notification, contact tracing & partner elicitation, as requested
  • Maintain FTN/FCT HIV/STD/syphilis testing client files
  • Coordinate outreach, including recruiting & utilizing volunteers, at authorized venues to conduct testing &/or referrals to testing & HIV linkage to treatment services
  • Ensure program goals & objectives are met, & report program process objectives
  • Attend department and agency meetings & local and statewide conferences
  • Promote PrEP and help coordinate FTN/FCT and HIV/syphilis/STD testing activities
  • Perform HIV/syphilis/STD tests via venipuncture or other methods per set guidelines
  • Monitor medical supply, orders & maintenance, including biohazard waste disposal
  • Perform duties in conjunction with the Transhealth Initiative, as needed
  • Perform duties in accordance with OSHA safety, clinic protocols & HIPAA compliance
  • Participate in condom distribution and Condom Education and Outreach initiative
  • Participates in the programs Client Services Navigation System to establish linkage to HIV-related medical care for people who are infected with HIV
  • Work with adult programs to help coordinate outreach for corresponding communities
  • May be required to drive personal car or Sexy Health Mobile Unit to businesses & events
  • Perform administrative and other duties

Job Requirements & Qualifications:
 
  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college is preferred
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred
  • Detail oriented with the Ability to handle a moderate to heavy workload and lift 25-50lbs
  • Ability to work flexible hours (some late nights and weekends required)
  • Must have access to reliable transportation (Mileage reimbursed)
  • Proficient experience with Microsoft computer applications is required
  • Qualification & experience in Foundations of Testing and Navigation (FCT) or Protocol-Based Counseling and Testing (PBC) is preferred but will train the right candidate.
