Job Description

The Ideal Candidate 

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Temporary Apparel Product Development Assistant to support the Johnston & Murphy Apparel Team. This role will focus on coordinating samples, managing development tracking, and supporting day-to-day operations to ensure seasonal timelines are met. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and comfortable working cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.  

How You Will Make an Impact 

  • Support the product development team in executing seasonal timelines from initial development through production
  • Coordinate sample submissions, tracking, and approvals throughout the development process
  • Maintain and update seasonal development charts and track proto and fit samples
  • Manage sample logistics, including organization, follow-up, and communication with vendors
  • Assist with preparing for fittings and documenting updates from technical design reviews
  • Communicate development updates to internal teams and external partners
  • Support fabric, trim, and sample approvals in partnership with cross-functional teams
  • Provide general administrative and operational support to the product development team

Experience and Skill's You'll Need to Have

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience (coursework or internship experience) in apparel, product development or technical design preferred
  • Basic understanding of garment construction and product lifecycle processes is a plus
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with PLM or ERP systems is a plus

  • Temporary assignment (duration: 3-6 months)
