Job Description
Base is America’s next-generation power company. We’re rebuilding the foundation of modern civilization–electricity–by deploying a vast network of distributed batteries that is transforming today’s fragile, centralized grid into a resilient and abundant system. We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time.
As a Deployment Engineering Intern, you'll get hands-on experience supporting the team that serves as Base's mission control for field operations. You'll work alongside experienced engineers and electricians in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment, helping to keep every battery installation and service call safe, efficient, and successful. You'll learn by doing — and what you do will directly impact how we deliver affordable energy at scale.
What You'll Do
Collaborate with Deployment Engineers to support field crews during live installations and service calls.
Participate in real-time troubleshooting alongside experienced engineers over phone, text, and Slack.
Support fleet monitoring using tools like Grafana and Retool to flag system health issues and surface trends.
Help create and maintain troubleshooting aids, hardware defect logs, and deployment playbooks.
Analyze patterns from field interactions to identify recurring issues and improvement opportunities.
Contribute to cross-team conversations with hardware, software, and Member Experience to share what's coming back from the field.
What You'll Bring
Current junior or senior in an undergraduate program, or a graduate student, in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
Strong foundation in electrical concepts and fundamentals.
Passion for hands-on problem solving and working close to real-world systems.
Familiarity with monitoring or ticketing tools (e.g., Grafana, Retool, Jira, Odoo) is a plus.
Exposure to electrical code, hardware troubleshooting, or field operations is a plus.
Curious, self-motivated, and able to stay calm and focused in a fast-paced environment.
About this Team
Deployment Engineering is Base Power's mission control for field operations, acting as the real-time support system for our installation crews. This team sits at the intersection of field electricians, engineering, and member experience, ensuring every install and service call runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently. Beyond live troubleshooting, the team plays a key role in identifying trends, improving deployment playbooks, and influencing product and operational decisions. Their work directly impacts installation speed, system uptime, and the overall member experience.
This is a team built for people who enjoy fast-paced problem solving, cross-functional collaboration, and developing a full-stack understanding of hardware, software, and field operations.
Please note: Base is a startup, which means priorities shift and evolve quickly. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.
First Principles Thinking: Question assumptions. Principles > rules.
Operate at Base Pace: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing.
Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble, and maintain a growth mindset.
Everyone’s an Owner: Follow through on commitments and own results.
Strong Opinions, Loosely Held: Drive clarity and make calls with imperfect information.
Committed to the Mission: Rebuilding the grid is a big challenge. We work hard because we care deeply about the impact we’re creating. We work in-person. It’s not a 9-to-5. We are all-in.
Fun & Optimism Coexist with Grit: Collaboration and celebration coincide with the intensity of building real things.
