Ophthalmic Technician – Retina Department

What You’ll Do

  • Support retina specialists during patient exams, procedures, and treatments
  • Screen and document visual acuity findings and various other ocular testing
  • Accurately document patient history, medications, and test results
  • Assist with refractions to help determine vision needs
  • Educate patients on eye conditions and follow-up care
  • Escort and assist patients throughout their visit, ensuring comfort and safety
  • Prepare exam rooms, complete forms, and support efficient clinic flow
  • Collaborate closely with providers and team members to deliver outstanding patient care

Work Environment

This role is based within our Retina Services team, with a home clinic location and travel to satellite locations as needed. The position requires a mix of sitting and standing, along with occasional lifting (30 pounds), bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and climbing stairs.

The Eye Clinic of Wisconsin has provided comprehensive eye care to the residents of Northern and Central Wisconsin for over 60 years. With 12 ophthalmologists, eight optometrists, and one audiologist, the Eye Clinic provides more than 70,000 patient visits annually at its locations in Wausau, Stevens Point, Rhinelander, Wisconsin Rapids, Antigo, Merrill, Marshfield, and Medford. Services include complete eye exams, a wide range of vision correction alternatives including eye glasses, contacts and refractive surgeries; treatment of various conditions of the eye including cataracts, glaucoma, diseases of the cornea, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachments; functional and cosmetic plastic surgery around the eyes; and treatment of hearing loss.
