Job Description
The Supply Chain Intern participates in a structured rotation program across logistics center functions at the Midwest Logistics Center (MWLC). The intern gains hands-on experience at the individual contributor level in inbound, outbound, inventory control, and engineering operations, with the goal of connecting floor-level work to overall building flow and supply chain planning. This role is designed to develop practical understanding of DC operations in a real-world logistics environment and serves as a replicable model for future internship placements within DBI’s logistics network.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Performs hands-on work alongside associates in assigned rotation areas including inbound receiving, unit replenishment, outbound operations, and inventory control. (60%) • Shadows leads, coordinators, and engineering staff to observe team management, operational planning, and systems-level decision-making. (20%) • Participates in engineering and labor planning work, including exposure to labor management systems, engineered standards, and operational reporting. (10%) • Completes end-of-rotation debrief conversations with supervisors and contributes observations to program documentation. (10%) Required Skills: • Ability to follow directions, perform physical tasks, and adapt to varying work environments across departments • Basic communication and observation skills; ability to ask questions and document learnings Experience: • No prior work experience required. This role is designed for students with no professional logistics or distribution background. Education: • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university degree program; high school diploma or equivalent required Preferred Qualifications: • Currently enrolled in an accredited supply chain, logistics, operations management, or related degree program • Completed at least one semester of coursework in supply chain, operations, or logisticsD
