Job Description

Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA or AMT)

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare pre-operative area and PACU for patient receiving.
  • Document PACU vital signs and applicable interventions in the patient’s electronic record.
  • Upload paper-based patient documentation into the patient’s electronic record at discharge or end of day as appropriate.
  • Perform pre-operative patient interventions per surgeon orders within the scope of practice.
  • Assist patient in preparation for discharge including dressing.
  • Communicate pre-operative assessment concerns to nursing, anesthesia and surgeon as appropriate.
  • Communicate with patients for surgery related calls per MTF protocol.
  • Assist with completion of end of day close out tasks in the APU and PACU.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Graduate from a medical assistant training program accredited by Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) of the American Medical Technologists or a formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces.
  • Current certification as a medical assistant by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or current registration by the American Medical Technologists (AMT).
  • One year of experience as a Medical Assistant after graduation.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
