Job Description

Overview

MHA in Ulster seeks a full time (35 hours per week) DSS Youth Respite Worker to provide temporary and specialized care working directly with youth experiencing social, emotional and behavioral difficulties. The Youth Respite Worker will provide respite by involving the child(ren) in structured recreational and skill building activities while caring for the child in the community in absence of primary caregiver. The Youth Respite Worker is required to document contacts in a progress note and attend scheduled respite meetings.

Schedule is Monday – Friday: 11:30am - 7pm. Candidate must have some flexibility based on the client's schedule.

The pay rate for this position is $20.83.

Responsibilities Include

  • Care of identified child in the community in absence of primary caregiver.
  • Maintenance of normal routine as outlined by primary caregiver.
  • Attending scheduled Respite meetings.
  • Maintaining other documentation, reports, records, or summaries as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience working with children with social, emotional and behavioral issues desired.
  • A clean, valid NYS driver's license that will meet and maintain a satisfactory driving record consistent with agency and insurance standards.
  • Ability to safely perform the essential functions of the position, with or without accommodations required by federal, state, or local law.
