Job Description

Maintenance / Porter Professional Needed!

At Beacon Hill Hospitality, we look for people who want to help others not because it's their job, but because it's their nature.

The Bilingual Porter is responsible for facility upkeep and enhancement on an ongoing basis. While the position is predominantly focused on a variety of maintenance activities, a key component of this role is patient experience. Beacon Hill Hospitality Porters are true customer service professionals who inherently love to help others and are happy to eliminate any anxiety that can come with a hospital visit.

The Porter is responsible for maintaining the parking grounds in a clean and orderly fashion at all times with a focus on safety. The Porter promotes positive relationships with all employees and customers and strives to make the first and last impression of the parking grounds the highest quality. In this role, it is important that the Porter maintains a positive attitude and professional appearance at all times.

Areas of Responsibility:

  • Facility maintenance
    • Performing repairs, painting, stenciling,
    • General maintenance of facilities and parking equipment
    • Dispatch for machine resets, parker assistance and restocks.
    • Assists with setting up signage according to operational needs.
    • Keeping signage up to date and clean. Reports any damages immediately to the site leader.
    • Responsible for ensuring all parking areas are clean and free of debris.
    • First point of contact when facility upgrades are needed. Examples include updating equipment and signage, painting parking lots in accordance with laws and regulations, replacing light bulbs, etc.
    • Cleaning. Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, pressure washing, restocking for all Beacon Hill owned property.
    • Contributes to the maintenance of booths throughout the facility.
    • Picking up and disposing of trash.
    • Builds and repairs equipment such as office chairs, break room furniture.
    • Participates in projects that require light handyman work.
  • Customer Service
    • Providing all hospital patients, employees and visitors with excellent customer service.
    • Assisting with wayfinding.
    • Helping parkers with pay-on-foot machines.
    • Seeking out ways to engage with guests and alleviate the anxiety of visiting the hospital
    • Technical support to other service lines as required.

Required Skills/Abilities (including but not limited to):

  • Proficiency with Spanish & English required
  • Possesses exceptional customer service skills
  • Maintains a warm, friendly, and professional demeanor when working with other employees, patients and visitors
  • Ability to read, understand, and communicate effectively both verbally and on paper

Physical Demands and Working Environment (including, but not limited to):

  • Employees are regularly required to run, stand, walk and sit
  • Must be able to wear PPE (personal protective equipment) for the duration of their shift
  • Must be able to push patients in wheelchairs (100 – 350 pounds)
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 5 pounds frequently and up to 10 pounds occasionally

The maintenance department is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit for long periods of time. Maintenance workers will frequently find themselves in positions involving bending, leaning, twisting, lifting, crouching, and squatting, depending on projects. They must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 30lbs and be able to wear PPE (personal protective equipment).

Work Environment

As it is an outdoor role, the employee may be subjected to the weather conditions of the time. Long periods of standing and walking are required.
