Job Description

Direct Support Professional

Harry Meyering Center supports people with developmental and intellectual disabilities in their homes and community.

Job Purpose

As a Direct Support Professional, you help people live fuller, more independent lives. You’ll provide support at home and in the community while building real relationships and gaining valuable career experience.

Wage: 

  • $18.00 per hour for full-time employees after the completion of a 90-day introductory period, with a starting pay of $17.00 per hour.
  • $16.50 per hour for part-time employees after the completion of a 90-day introductory period, with a starting pay of $16.00 per hour.

Location: Multiple locations in North Mankato, Mankato, and Eagle Lake.

Schedules Available:
  • 8–40 hours per week
  • Mornings, evenings, or overnights
  • Every other weekend required
  • Holiday/fill‑in opportunities
  • Flexible scheduling

What You’ll Do:
  • Provide respectful, individualized care.
  • Assist with personal cares. (dressing, bathing, feeding, etc.)
  • Support daily living activities. (cooking, cleaning, laundry)
  • Participate in community outings. (bowling, shopping, movies, exercise)
  • Follow health, safety, and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Complete documentation and other assigned tasks.

Qualifications:
  • 18+ with a high school diploma or GED
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license & acceptable driving record
  • Must pass MN DHS Background Study
  • Strong communication skills
  • Willingness to learn, no experience required
  • Preferred experience: CNA, PCA, DSP, caregiver, or similar

Harry Meyering Center, Inc. is a residential provider for adults with physical and developmental disabilities. Harry Meyering Center, Inc. opened in 1973 as a home for 44 individuals with developmental disabilities, which was made possible by the efforts of the local ARC and the parents of those 44 individuals. We have since grown to serve 150 people in three programs, which include the Intermediate Care Facility (ICF), the Supportive Living Service (SLS), and Semi-Independent Living Services (SILS/SLS In-home). HMC strives to provide the people we serve and their families with services that encourage dreams, focus on independence, foster community connections, help people cope with life-changing events and offer special attention to safety, health needs and security.
