Job Description
About the role
Flywheel energy storage combines power electronics, electric machines, control systems, structural dynamics, and power systems engineering. Our intern will gain early exposure to how these disciplines come together in a real-world product—from concept and testing to documentation and customer support. This internship is designed for early-career engineering students who are curious about power and energy systems and want to learn how engineering work is performed in an industrial environment. While some of the intern's time will be spent assisting engineers with technical tasks, a significant portion of this role involves engineering-adjacent administrative work. This includes organizing data, preparing documentation, and supporting project tracking using Microsoft Office tools. The goal is to help you understand how engineering teams operate day-to-day while building strong professional skills alongside technical fundamentals.
What You’ll Learn
· Basics of flywheel energy storage systems and how they interface with electrical grids
· Fundamentals of power electronics, electric machines, and energy storage applications
· How engineering teams document designs, test results, and project progress
· How large technical projects are organized, tracked, and communicated
What you'll do
Engineering Support
· Assisting engineers with data collection and organization from tests and simulations
· Reviewing schematics, block diagrams, and technical drawings under supervision

· Organizing engineering files and version-controlled documents
· Supporting project schedules, task lists, and internal reports
· Preparing summary materials for internal design reviews or customer-facing documentation
Qualifications
· Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program in Electrical Engineering (or closely related field)
· Interest in power engineering, energy systems, electric machines, or power electronics
· Comfortable using or willing to learn Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
· Organized, reliable, and willing to tackle detail-oriented tasks
· Strong curiosity and a desire to learn how engineering works in practice
Nice to Have (Not Required)
· First- or second-year standing preferred but not required
· Introductory coursework in circuits or energy systems
· Basic familiarity with MATLAB, Python, or similar tools
· Interest in renewable energy, grid infrastructure, or mechanical-electrical systems
· Fluency in Mandarin
