The Details:

The Staff Accountant reports to a Manager, Accounting and is responsible for a variety of accounting functions such as performing accurate and timely Monthly Journal Entry Preparation, General Ledger Account Reconciliation and Schedule Maintenance, Bank Reconciliations, Audits and Reporting.  The ability to generate reports by pulling data from multiple systems, consolidating, and analyzing the data is required. Critical thinking and adherence to internal deadlines as well as state required deadlines is a must. 

What will you do:

  • Support timely monthly/quarterly financial close, including recording assigned journal entries, completing balance sheet/GL account reconciliations, accruals, and overall maintenance of all operational management accounts
  • Accurate and timely preparation and maintenance of journal entry templates, with commentary explaining results and analyzing variances and trends
  • Provide audit support and fulfill SOX/internal control requests from internal and external auditors
  • Researches and analyzes financial variances as a result of premium reconciliation process and report appropriate corrective action
  • Coordinate with external partners and brokers on monthly bordereaux and settlement statements
  • Standardizes and documents most efficient reconciliation processes
  • Maintains accurate and organized paper and electronic files with supporting documents
  • Ensures data integrity by maintaining appropriate controls for audit verification
  • Monitors, ages in the monthly premium reconciliation process for financial reporting
  • Keeps updated with the latest methodologies, procedures, and client-specific information
  • Coordinates premium reconciliation on a monthly basis to meet contractual or other specified deadlines
  • Other duties as assigned or requested

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience required - insurance industry preferred
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office- Excel (Pivot Tables, Lookups, Formulas), Word, Power Point and Outlook
  • Ability to organize, self-prioritize, multi-task and be a self-starter in a fast-paced environment with demanding internal and external deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail a must

Pay Range: $58,000-$87,000 + Bonus Potential & Participation in our Competitive Long-Term Incentive (LTI) Program.

The above pay range is for all US-based roles based on function and level, benchmarked against companies of similar size and scope. To be compliant with local legislation as well as provide greater transparency to candidates, we disclose salary ranges on all job postings regardless of the desired job location.
