Job PURPOSE: 

This position is responsible for supporting overall logistics and operations for the dock area, warehouse, and laundry room.  These duties include but are not limited to receiving and sorting donations, stocking donations in an orderly fashion, ensuring laundry is done daily to provide bedding for shelter clients, and driving a company vehicle for the donation collection route as needed.

This is a non-supervisory position; however, you will be responsible for oversight of volunteers and vocational workers. Must be able to train and provide direction to others to help them be successful. 

This position requires the ability to perform heavy lifting up to 75 lbs. and a valid driver’s license.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

• Operation of the laundry room. The dock and laundry assistant is responsible for organizing the process to ensure linens get washed and folded daily, and that laundry room shelves are restocked each day. 
• Safely drive company vehicles around the Omaha metropolitan area to collect various donations.
• Sort, stock and distribute material donations and supplies. 
• Work with community volunteers and clients in our work training program by providing supervision of their work, training, and direction. 
• Support the dock by ensuring each donor is greeted with professionalism.
• Provides excellent customer service to clients, volunteers, vendors, and employees.
• The ability to load and unload goods out of and into vehicles.
• Use and maintain company provided hand tools, power tools, pallet jacks, carts, miscellaneous equipment, and vehicles in a safe manner as designed and for its intended use and in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws.
• Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and car insurance required.
• Proven driving record.
• Defensive driving skills. 
• Possesses good organizational and prioritization skills.
• Able to work independently and with others.
• Superior customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to relate to, work with, and communicate with diverse individuals.

• Must be able to push, pull, lift, and carry 75 pounds.
• Great attendance. 
• Ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.

 The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work environment is a warehouse, laundry room, and/or kitchen setting with varying degrees of temperatures and noise levels.
