JOB SUMMARY:
The Patient Access Specialist is responsible for registering and admitting patients, verifying insurance and demographic information, and ensuring a smooth and efficient check-in process. This role supports emergency room and switchboard operations while providing excellent customer service and performing various administrative duties.
The Patient Access Specialist reports directly to the Director of Patient Services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Education:
a) High School graduate with related subjects in general business.
b) Computer knowledge
c) Medical terminology.
d) Good customer service skills.
2. Licensure/Certification:
a.) N/A
3. Work Experience:
a) General office experience preferably with insurance claims knowledge.
b) Ability to operate various office machines/ computers
c) Be able to work independently and make reasonable decisions while maintaining confidentiality.
RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DUTIES:
1. Register all patients upon arrival and accurately collect and verify demographic and insurance information.
2. Provide excellent customer service while addressing patient questions and concerns in person and over the phone.
3. Ensure compliance with hospital policies, HIPAA, and insurance requirements during the registration and admission process.
4. Relieves cashier and PBX operator as needed.
5. Other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
1. General office setting. No exposure to extremes in temperature, lighting or noise.

4. Significant time spent looking at computer monitor.
