Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated MAT Peer Specialist to join our dynamic behavioral health team. In this vital role, you will leverage your lived experience with recovery to support individuals facing mental health and substance use challenges. The MAT Peer Specialist will serve as a mentor, advocate, and crisis intervention resource, fostering hope and resilience within the community.

Responsibilities

  • Provide peer support by sharing personal recovery experiences to inspire hope and motivation among clients.
  • Assist clients in developing coping strategies and recovery plans tailored to their individual needs.
  • Conduct crisis intervention and management to ensure client safety during moments of emotional or behavioral distress.
  • Facilitate engagement in behavioral health services through motivational interviewing and mentoring techniques.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to coordinate care plans and document progress using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
  • Advocate for clients’ needs within the healthcare system, ensuring they access appropriate resources and support networks.
  • Promote a positive, empowering environment that encourages client participation in their recovery journey.

Requirements

  • Lived experience with mental health challenges or substance use recovery, demonstrating personal resilience and insight.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention strategies and crisis management protocols.
  • Background in behavioral health, mental health counseling, addiction counseling, or social work is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in motivational interviewing techniques to foster client engagement and motivation.
  • Experience working with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems for documentation and care coordination.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to mentor, motivate, and advocate effectively for clients.
  • Willingness to obtain CPRS credential
