Description

The National Community Reinvestment Coalition (NCRC) is a network of more than 600 community-based organizations dedicated to creating opportunities for all Americans to build wealth and live well. Founded in 1990 and headquartered in Washington, DC, NCRC works with community leaders, policymakers, and financial institutions to champion fairness in banking, housing, and business.  NCRC is seeking a motivated and mission-aligned People & Culture / Operations Intern to support day-to-day Human Resources operations and several high-impact special projects. This is a hands-on opportunity for a student passionate about people operations, organizational effectiveness, and the nonprofit sector. 

Requirements

Potential Special Projects:

  • Professional Development — Research, plan, and coordinate staff training sessions, workshops, and professional development programs
  • Office Move — Support logistics, vendor communication, timeline tracking, and internal communications for the transition
  • Recruitment — Assist with job postings, candidate screening, interview scheduling, and applicant tracking system (ATS) maintenance
  • Compensation Analysis — Research salary benchmarks, compile compensation data, and help prepare summary reports for leadership

General HR & Operations Support:

  • Maintain and update employee records and HR databases with accuracy and confidentiality
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes for staff
  • Assist with culture and engagement initiatives, including staff events and recognition programs
  • Help draft internal communications, HR policies, and organizational presentations
  • Provide general administrative support to the People & Culture and Operations team

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, Organizational Psychology, or a related field
  • Commitment to NCRC's mission of building a just and equitable economy
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace
  • Discretion when handling confidential employee and organizational information
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Experience with HRIS, ATS platforms, or nonprofit operations is a plus

Work Environment & Schedule

This position is based at NCRC's Washington, DC headquarters (740 15th St NW, Suite 400) in a hybrid environment. In-office days are Tuesday and Thursday; Monday and Friday are remote. Interns work up to 30 hours per week. NCRC will accommodate academic schedules and exam periods.
