Job Description

The ED Registered Nurse provides a range of patient care, including IV lines, catheters, nasal gastric tubes, application of splints and dressings, peripheral blood glucose monitors, O2 setups, cardiac care, and monitoring vital signs.  Administers IV, IM and oral medications.  Responsible for admission and discharge of patient along with patient and family teaching.  Responds to codes and emergencies.  Administers quality control, counts narcotics, updates patient charts, stamps card for charges, copies transfer papers, and reports patients’ condition to incoming shift.  Notifies supervisor, doctor, and family of change in patient condition.

Schedule: Full-time, would have to work a mix of day shift, mid shift, and night shift.  72 hours per pay.  

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Licensed and current registration as a professional nurse in the State of Illinois.
  • Current CPR Certification and ACLS, PALS, AND ECRN trained or obtained within 1 year.
  • Clinical experience preferred but not required.
  • Good working knowledge of the nursing process and strong nursing practice skills including physical assessment skills.
  • May be required to work any day of the week, including holidays and weekends.
