Job Description

The Commercial Credit Analyst is responsible for successfully evaluating the financial condition of commercial borrowers, underwriting loan requests and preparing a timely and high-quality credit approval memorandum, adhering to the Bank's credit policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze financial information of prospective and existing borrowers and underwrite commercial loans in conformance with Loan Policy, including loan renewals, loan modifications and Loan Reviews
  • Spread and analyze financial information, and develop cash flows of prospective and existing borrowers
  • Prepare credit approval memorandums, analyzing financial, collateral, cash flow and other appropriate information of borrower’s and guarantors, assessing credit risk, if credit-worthy, underwriting in conformance with Loan Policy and presenting loan requests to appropriate loan authority level
  • Analyze and make recommendations to management regarding credit issues
  • Work directly with Commercial Lending Officers to obtain all necessary information needed to underwrite loan requests
  • Communicate with borrowers, accountants, management and bank staff as needed for credit investigations
  • Is aware of and complies with CRA/HMDA Guidelines/Flood Insurance/Appraisal Regulations and adheres to Bank policies and procedures on such issues.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Educational and Experience Requirements include:

  • A bachelor’s degree is required preferably in business or finance with ancillary banking education preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of related commercial underwriting experience. Knowledge of financial statement fundamentals, accounting concepts, and industry trends and practices required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Critical thinking and evaluation skills.
  • The ability to work well with others but can also work independently
