As an essential player you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and high-quality production of our products. You will be responsible for operating and maintaining equipment such as, but not limited to, measuring tools, heat gun, irons, embroidery and sewing tools, and sewing machines. To be successful in this role, you should be able to follow detailed instructions, and contribute to a positive and productive work environment.

Education and Qualifications 

• High school diploma or general education degree preferred, but not mandatory 
• Embroidery, sewing and/or digitizing experience desired, but not mandatory
• Very Basic computer knowledge helpful; Uses in-house programs (example: Exenta, Quickturn, NetSuite, Shopify) 

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to stand, sit and/or walk (90% of the day) and occasionally reach, bend, and move inside the facility to move product
• Fine motor skills: required using the wrists, hands, and fingers
• Vision: Required to have close visual acuity, color vision and depth perception
• Able to hear and effectively communicate with peers
• Ability to lift/move/pull 10-50 lbs. occasionally throughout day
• Moderate noise due to sewing machine operation in a warehouse setting
• Extreme temperatures: some assignments are in a building with limited climate control

OC – Sewer / JUNK Sew 

As a Grade 3 Sewer at Outdoor Cap and JUNK Brands, your primary responsibility is sewing and stitching various products and components together, ensuring precise seam allowances, stitch lengths, and thread tension. Grade 3 Sewer can increase earning potential by gaining skills from Step 1 to Step 7 and/or advancing to Grade 4 Production Assistant.

* By 90 days, a new Patch sewer should be able to sew all standard shapes and all patch types (leather, sublimated, and fabric) and meet these requirements: 

Leather Patch Sewing on Caps: Sew 48 Circles in <90 mins, Sew 48 Buckles in <80 mins, Sew 48 Rectangles in <75 mins, Sew 48 Squares in <75 mins

Sublimated/Fabric Patch Sewing on Caps: Sew 48 Circles in <70 mins, Sew 48 Buckles in <65 mins, Sew 48 Rectangles in <65 mins, Sew 48 Squares in <65 mins

New sewers may learn Knit if time allows, but typically not required to run production until 6 months experience

Essential Duties & Responsibilities = JUNK /Patch

• Able to do all duties required of Step 1 Production Support listed above for either OC or JUNK
• Pass a dexterity test
• Interprets work orders, paying close attention to all details to ensure product is completed correctly with the highest standard of accuracy and quality and reflects artwork
• Tie thread to machine. Change as required for each order
• Must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written 
• Seam fabric components together with precision and quality.(JUNK)
• Sew all headbands for example: BBL, BAL, BB, CT, FT, TB (JUNK)
• Sew all patch types and all patch shapes to any hat type for example: leather, fabric, sublimated and third party patches; circle, square, buckle, rectangle shapes; structured and unstructured caps, knits, and hat bands for straws. (OC)
• Inspect finished products to verify quality standards and make necessary adjustments.
• Collaborate with team members to achieve efficient production processes.
• Re-test every 6 months for accuracy and recertification
• Able to demonstrate competencies for various machinery / techniques for next level
