About the Role:As an Engineering Intern within the Aboveground Storage Tank industry, you will play a crucial role in supporting the engineering team by applying computer-aided drafting (CAD) techniques to develop and refine technical drawings and models. This position offers hands-on experience in translating conceptual designs into detailed schematics that guide the manufacturing process. You will collaborate closely with engineers and production staff to ensure designs meet functional, safety, and quality standards. The internship aims to provide you with practical exposure to real-world engineering challenges, fostering your technical skills and understanding of manufacturing workflows. Ultimately, your contributions will help streamline product development and improve manufacturing efficiency.Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an accredited engineering or technical degree program.
- Proficiency in computer-aided drafting (CAD) software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar tools.
- Basic understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions accurately.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with 3D modeling and simulation software.
- Familiarity with manufacturing industry standards and quality control procedures.
- Previous internship or project experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Good communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of materials science and mechanical design principles.
Responsibilities:
- Create and modify detailed CAD drawings and 3D models based on engineering specifications and project requirements.
- Assist in reviewing and verifying design documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to incorporate feedback and optimize designs for manufacturability.
- Support the documentation process by organizing and maintaining design files and records.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to improve design processes and product quality.
Skills:The required skill of computer-aided drafting is central to your daily tasks, enabling you to create precise technical drawings that serve as blueprints for manufacturing. You will use CAD software to translate conceptual ideas into detailed designs, ensuring accuracy and adherence to specifications. Preferred skills such as 3D modeling and simulation enhance your ability to visualize and test designs before production, reducing errors and improving efficiency. Communication skills are essential for collaborating with engineers and production staff to refine designs and implement feedback. Additionally, understanding manufacturing standards and quality control helps you produce designs that meet industry requirements and support successful product outcomes.About HMTHMT is the global leader in aboveground storage tank solutions.
