Awake Overnight Caregiver - Direct Support Professional

About the Role: The Direct Support Professional (Awake Overnight) provides dependable and compassionate overnight support to individuals with disabilities served by Harry Meyering Center. Remaining awake throughout the shift, this role focuses on maintaining a safe, calm environment, responding to needs or emergencies, and offering reassurance and assistance as needed. DSPs may support personal care, monitor health and safety, complete documentation, and help ensure the home remains comfortable and secure. This position offers a meaningful opportunity to support individuals during the overnight hours through respectful, person‑centered care that truly makes a difference.

Schedule: Typically, 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM, including every other weekend. 
Location: Mankato, MN

Wage:  Staff can receive up to $19.00 per hour, with the full breakdown below.
 

  • $18.00 per hour for full-time employees after the completion of a 90-day introductory period, with a starting pay of $17.00 per hour.
  • $16.50 per hour for part-time employees after the completion of a 90-day introductory period, with a starting pay of $16.00 per hour. 
  • All awake overnight shifts will receive an additional $1.00 per hour for direct care hours worked.

What you’ll do:
  • Monitor individuals nightly to ensure safety.
  • Get paid for being a productive night owl.
  • Assist with personal cares if needed.
  • Help others achieve their goals.
  • Assist in preparing for the day ahead.
  • Advocate for the benefit of others.

What do we need from you?
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must hold a valid United States driver's license and pass a driving record check conducted by our insurance carrier unless otherwise noted.
  • Must pass the MN Department of Human Services Background Study.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Ability to complete daily direct care such as bathing, toileting, feeding, and changing.
  • Ability to do household chores such as cooking, cleaning, and laundry.

Harry Meyering Center, Inc. opened in 1973 as a home for 44 individuals with developmental disabilities, which was made possible by the efforts of the local ARC and the parents of those 44 individuals. We have since grown to serve 150 people in three programs, which include the Intermediate Care Facility (ICF), the Supportive Living Service (SLS), and Semi-Independent Living Services (SILS/SLS In-home).
