Job Description

This role is located at the Ambulatory Surgery Center, Spokane Eye Clinic, which is part of Prism Vision Group.

Compensation Range: $19.28-$40.04/hr (Dependent on Experience)

The Certified Sterile Processing Technician maintains responsibility for all sterilization processes in the center, to include cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing instruments and equipment. Maintains accurate and timely documentation of all sterilization processes.  Reports to Director of Nursing

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


• Cleans, decontaminates, inspects, assembles, preps & packages, and sterilizes all instruments and equipment according to manufacturer instructions for use.
• Acquires, maintains, and utilizes all manufacturer instructions for use as they pertain to each instrument/item.
• Adheres to all policies and procedures of the center.
• Accurately and efficiently documents all required components of the cleaning/sterilization cycles.
• Performs all aspects of reprocessing in a timely and efficient manner while adhering to all policies.
• Maintains knowledge of operating all applicable equipment (i.e. ultrasonic, autoclave, etc.)
• Performs required quality control through routine testing, cleaning, and monitoring to assure sterilization equipment and instruments function properly.
• Inspects all instruments/equipment and packaging for cleanliness, defects, and or malfunctions.
• Assists in storing all sterilized items.
• Transports instrumentation to and from sterile storage area when needed.
• Ensure proper preventative maintenance is performed at required intervals.
• Interacts with maintenance personnel when necessary to ensure there is service provided in a timely fashion to reduce any downtime or impact on patient care.
• Verbalizes, understands, and utilizes appropriate PPE based on work location (i.e. clean, decontamination)
• Assists in picking for the days cases when needed
• Accepts linen deliveries and assists in stocking when requested.
• Maintains accurate tray sheets and inventory sheets.
• Knowledge of Privacy Practices & Patient Bill of Rights.
• Knowledge of centers Policies & Procedures.
• Other duties as assigned to include inventory/expiration validation/stocking.

Working Conditions:

Environment: This position is located in an Ambulatory Surgery Center.

Physical Demands: This position requires extensive mobility, walking, and standing. Most of the days work involves pushing, pulling, and lifting patients or equipment. There is a potential exposure to patients with communicable diseases 

and/or blood borne pathogens.
