Job Description

Description

The Wellfield Drilling Tech is responsible for preparing casing for the drilling rigs and operating the cementers for cementing cased holes, plugging and abandoning drill holes and wells, top plugging plugged holes and wells, operating gravel pack equipment and materials and installing fencing of the drill pits. During the course of this work, the crew members are expected to perform preventative maintenance on the equipment. 

Responsibilities:

  • Operating Cementing and/or Gravel Packing Equipment to Cement open holes and/or gravel pack cased holes as required.
  • Operating light vehicles, water trucks and forklifts to move equipment and handle materials.
  • Take appropriate casing and casing accessories to rigs and glue casing together if necessary. 
  • Take screen and assemble screen and screen accessories to rigs working on completion of wells.
  • Keep and record inventory.
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures, Temporary Operating Procedures, Instructions and Safe Work Practices in the execution of the duties of the position.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment as required. 

Requirements

Skills Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Knowledgeable in calculating cement mixtures for drilled and cased holes. 
  • Knowledge of how to operate pumps and valves.
  • Work well and communicate with others 
  • Capable of understanding and performing instructions from supervisors
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds. 
  • Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements.
  • Must be able to read and write in English

Working Conditions & Physical Activity:

  • Possess hearing and eyesight of correction to normal able-bodied level.
  • Walk, stand, bend, stoop through as the job requires.
  • Climb up and down stairs carrying a load of 50 pounds.
  • Remain outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Make fine, highly controlled muscular movements to adjust the position of a control mechanism.
  • Workers are required to work around cement dust and must wear a respirator. Each worker must pass pulmonary exam in order to wear respirators as job requires.
  • Move heavy objects (50 pounds) long distances (more than 20 feet.)
